Shaastra 3rd day ( my second entry to shaastra)
Labs :
Mechanical lab:
This was a good experience for me to mechanics. They have explained the power steering mechanism, testing of a braking system ... etc
Electrical Engineering :
They are some more active in IIT. I could see some good projects as well as posters of different technology like semiconductor, optics ..etc.
Projects:
1. Image processing , QPSK,noise addition, transmission and receiving
2. Sensing the pressure of a diaphragm (which is pulsating) inside a bucket of water,reading the data for plotting graph ,measuring diameter variation
3. Optics
4. Semiconductor technology explanation
companies sponsoring to them : benchmark Tenet
Computer Science:
I have seen
1. FPGA lab( Altera board, VHDL program burning, quartus( forgot name) software )
2. Robot show ( laptop controlled wheel chair)
3. one SRM student explained me one telos board
Actually the board was connected to USB of Linux Os CPU. Using 'make' command he burnt the program to the board. The program is to read temperature and humidity of the room. Interesting stuff is, the board was connected to similar four boards at different places by wireless. They were also reading temp and humidity. He set an apache and mysql to display the current and last 10 set of informations.
IBM person talk
cell processor, ibm semiconductor areas...etc
WANT 2 FLY AUTOMATED
This was a project demo of IITM students. The project designed by different (electronics and aerospace) department students in IIT. Their coordination,programming and mechanical skill is really amazing....

Shaastra 2008 (Second ENTRY to IITM)
Shaastra's beauty
Big big companies are sponsoring to this tech festival. L&T infotech,google,HSBC, GREDGE....etc. When I reached Elephant circle ( Gajendra circle), had seen big,big malls – one for Indian army, another for winergy ( wind to electric energy conversion) .
Talks, puzzles, conferences, workshops ( haven't seen ) all very standard programs.......
Shaastra's Bugs,
But I haven't seen the electronics, electrical,computer science or civil engineering IITM students projects or experiments exhibited in the ground. No project exhibition like mini projects or final year projects are less ( may because of first day ) or not there . Hardly you can see those stuffs. Then I understood, in that case GECT ECE's 'Quintessence ' or 'Insignia' (CS program) are giving more importance to exhibition of projects. In this particular thing the contribution of IITians to Shaatra was less. That is really really sad thing.
I think, IITians are more concentrating on entrepreneurship or business type stuffs... that also good . But IIT is famous because of technology, science and BRAIN.... not that much in business. But IIT can develop that too.... good. But only that, is bad.
Events participated.
Meanwhile got a chance to listen one RTI officer talk. That was really inspiring, as well as I wondered these type officers are there in Indian government. After having lunch and tea( very costly, don't know what the time was !!), wandered here and there without knowing what to do. Because, don't know the schedule... what program? which auditorium ? ...CLT,ICSR,DOMS.....etc. I enquired about the program schedule ... But I didn't get ( asked two places. First person direct me to registration people sitting place in IIT ground. Second person didn't care me that much). Really I feel bad.
FOSS Debian
Finally at the end of the day , I got FOSS Debian conference taken by Kapil ( http://www.imsc.res.in/~kapil/). Don't know more about his background. But he studied mathematics and now addicted in debian as well as in FOSS. He explained about patch and diff. I didn't get more( thats my problem).But he had started a Ubuntu vs Debian fight...funny moments.
The words that strike while listening.
1.ar xv /var/cache/..... / 20.4.somfile.db

5.fakerrout

And last when I looked into my watch, the time was 7.30pm. I knew that, “ I will miss the workshop on 'hacknight' in late night( 10.30pm to 'overnight' - no end time -) ' . No other way , have to return.

Electric Field And Electro static potential
Interesting thing, it is constant for a particular distance surface from the charge. What ever way we reach to that point the Electrostatic potential will be constant.
Electrostatic potential depends only on the radial distance from the charge.So depends only on one quantity
And from ELECTROSTATIC POTENTIAL we can determine the value of E which is vector (depending 3 components x,y,z)
These calculations and derivation I have studied in Btech days itself.But I didn't get the advantage of these ELETROSTATIC potential.

ascentengineers...
ascentengineers -----> Very interesting to see their work( http://ascentengineers.org/ ) and the way they are generating their business. I believe that they can be succeed in their business with electronics and free software . Because the market for these two are growing very fast in kerala. They found out their first customers as the college students. Giving consultancy to them .... is really a business.
I find that these ascentengineers are very young. And the courage they taking is really amazing.

GATE EC2003 question
Number of Mesh = B - N + 1 where B = No of Branches
N = number of Nodes
Node equation = N - 1
where N = number of Nodes
here B = 7 , N = 4
so minium number of equation need to analyze the circuit is = N - 1 = 3
Qu(2):
The Laplace transform of of i(t) is given by
I(s) = 2 / s(1+s)
As t --> infinity, The value of i( t) tends to
Ans:
Inverse of I(s) ,
I(s) = 2/s -2/(1+s)
i(t) = 2 -2(e^-t) because L(1) = 1/s and L(e^-t .1) = 1/(S+1)
As t --> infinity ,
==> i(t) = 2 -2/(e^infinity)
==> i(t) = 2 - 2/infinity
== > i(t) = 2 because 2/infinity is zero
This is the answer I got. I am not sure about 2/infinity . ,,...
i don't know these answers are correct or not .. I didn't get key for GATE these question.

DREAM FIRST ... WORK FOR IT, YOU WILL GET
I believe these words.
Some of college friends motivating me for a Mtech. Really my mind is restless now.
WARNING
how fast or immediate i am starting study and How fastly and strongly i studies subjects will determine my score in GATE ......
I am feeling that Mtech in IIT( dream) is reachable ambition. But I haven't informed this to father. Most probably he will reject....(that is not a problem )
I informed to my brother....( i got half +ve approval from him).I need to work hard that was his advice.
Here(in chennai) the atmosphere is not favor to study .It is a challenge as well as thrill.
Getting a Btech admission in IIT is much harder than a MTech. Making a decision is very important because GATE is an all India exam. Even if it is simple compared to btech, students from all over india is participating in it.That much competition is there.

MTECH DREAM OBSTACLES
First: completely lost the touch with what I have studied in Btech.
Second: whether I can study again ... that doubt
Third: I want more practical and experimenting opportunity than theory ( in electronics and embedded programming)... whether mtech can provide that facility ?
Fourth: After Mtech what I will do,if I didn't get job , ????( After seeing some good teachers, I start to find interest in teaching...this is a positive thing )
Fifth: Money...,,.. currently I am getting some what good salary. What will people (friends and classmates) tell if I don't get a job better than this ??
I am struggling to take a decision.

not getting satisfaction in this life
I would have to form a group in B Tech with friends those who are interested in studies and exploring things. My ambition is to build a electronics or computer related company with college mates. I know that, I have that much talented friends.(including girls) .......But failed to talk to them or co-ordinate them.Now I am not getting chance to apply what I have studied..... I have no control on my life... Life is going one way.. I am going behind that.

The age of 'blog ' pathys
The age of 'blog ' pathys
Frustrated with the fact that the money making drill known as your job has evolved into sitting at a desk from 9 to 5, getting paid peanuts at the end of the month? For all those buckling under the monotony of daily life, the global phenomenon called blogging may just have opened the doors to wealth heretofore unseen in office space.
But how does this work? The answer lies in the revenue generated from ads posted on each blogger’s site. Kiruba Shankar, a popular blogger from Chennai, says, “There are several ways to make a handsome earning through blogs. However, the most popular mode happens to be through ads, specifically – Google’s Adsense service. Subscribers of the service are paid a commission on the basis of the number of hits that ads placed on the subscribers’ blog get. The ads are posted according to the relevance of the blog.”
If you are a lover of gadgets and you frequently blog about the latest in gizmos, your blog could be posted with ads pertaining to local dealers of such gadgets, auctioning sites that sell them at different rates etc. The revenue earned by a blogger would depend on various factors. Ganesh, the blogmeister of Rupaiya.com explains this, “The money you make from the ads depends on the subject of the blog, it’s popularity and its ranking. For an ad space, one can earn anywhere between Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 9,000 per month. Hits on these advertisements could a fetch a blogger anywhere between Rs 4 to Rs. 300.” Ganesh says, “I have made about Rs 7 lakh in about a year and a half. But there are even those who earn from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 20 lakh per month.”
Parminder Singh, the business head of technology, Google India says, “The revenue as well as the exact number of bloggers in Adsense are confidential. Of course, it’s very popular in India and almost every major blogger is a part of it.”
However, ads are not the only way to make money through blogs. Ramanujam, an engineering graduate who makes more money from his blogs than his ads says, “I write product reviews and link my blog to the product’s website. So in turn, that company pays me.” He adds, “I have made almost a six-figure amount which is enough to sponsor my higher education.” But before these figures tempt you to quit your job and start blogging, Kiruba cautions, “It may look like the next big thing in terms of money, but it’s not as easy as it seems. Only a fraction make that kind of money. Moreover it takes a blogger almost a year, maybe more to make money.” Jamshed. V. Rajan, the product head of Ibibo.com, says, “Even though some portals have a system similar to Google’s, they are not as popular, due to the factors like accuracy, relevance etc.”

Are you getting the answer to the question ,'For what, are you studying '??
Somehow I managed to get P.C Thomas tuition Centre in Plus two days. Then I understood , I was nothing , I was totally weak in lot of areas . Getting a good rank in P.C class was very difficult, that retarded my interest in studies. Then I kept another target as getting admission in a good engineering college. After getting ECE in Thrissur GEC, I realised that also not giving a permanent desire for study. For what I am studying ? getting good job, getting a rich girl, buying a car....etc.. These answers had come through my mind . But those were not giving me a final answer or an end to that question.
After started to write some technical things in my blog, I realised that I could have write more technical things or whatever I had studied. That would be very useful to next generation and also my article or blog would live even if my age over. Currently what I am thinking, just write down in blog whatever I am studing. Actually these intention, really give me interest in studing.

The 96-yr-old who blogs
"I am a learner. I believe that when one stops learning he ceases to live and that it is never too late to learn,"
These words are nice and encouraging me to do what I am hided in myself.
Randall Butisingh
At an age when people begin to lose interest in many aspects of the world around them, 96-year-old Randall Butisingh not only mastered the intricacies of the internet but also began his own blog, which describes him as one of the world's oldest bloggers and shows him as a man with a remarkable catholicity of interests.
The grandson of indentured workers who were taken to Guyana to work on sugar plantations, Butisingh has watched the world transform many times over in the past nine decades and has adjusted himself to the changes.
"I am a learner. I believe that when one stops learning he ceases to live and that it is never too late to learn," Butisingh said.
At the age of 80, he learnt Arabic so he could read the Quran. At 95, he began studying Spanish and he is doing it "poco a poco" (little by little). Butisingh has an agile mind and an eager interest in life and at present he is studying the Hindu religion and philosophy.
Butisingh's blog is versatile. Its subject categories vary from Buxton (his home town), economics, world politics, environment, history, philosophy, poetry, psychology, religion and an inspiring thought for the day.
In April, Butisingh posted a blog on his website that stressed the need to keep the internet an open arena and out of the hands of those who wished to place restrictions on this free medium. He responds to every comment or response to his popular blog.
Born in Buxton, Demerara, in what is now Guyana, Butisingh has never visited India since he does not like travelling, but he has followed Indian history and geography.
"The person I admire most is Mahatma Gandhi, the architect of India's freedom. Although I never saw him, I wept when he died as many did all over the world," he said.
He has three collections of poems to his credit - "Love's Light", "Wild Flowers" and "Love's Balm". His poems were written in the 1970s and he was inspired to pen them after reading about the life of the late blind and deaf humanitarian, Helen Keller.
Explaining his daily routine, Butisingh said: "At my age, I do not work strictly as per routine. I cannot read for very long although I have good eyesight. You may find me in the day resting for hours and at nights up until two or three reading or typing up my blog.

Chinese health officials said Tuesday that they have begun the country's largest public health effort in recent history to guard against the threat of epidemics among survivors of the Sichuan earthquake.
Concern about possible outbreaks is rising not only because survivors are living in cramped, sometimes unsanitary areas, but also because the threat of disease is always higher in the summer. Officials say there have been cases of diarrhea, tuberculosis, and hepatitis among survivors, and they are monitoring the cases closely.
Ministry of Health official Chen Xian Yi says researchers have compared the current outbreaks with disease patterns before the quake.
Chen says that they have found that there are no more cases after the earthquake. In other words, he says, so far, there has been no big outbreak of disease.
While health workers focus on disease, soldiers are trying to evacuate an additional 80,000 people from around a lake that formed when a landslide dammed a river during the quake. With heavy rains expected in the coming days, there are fears the dam could give way suddenly, causing a flood that could endanger more than a million people. More than 70,000 people evacuated the area earlier.
how deeply the disaster affect the people in china. If you want to see the coordination of chineese people even in this critical situation read the ppt . http://naveendavisv.googlepages.com/Earthquake11.ppt

Sea bath
friends also.Lot of people were enjoying the sea bath till I came
back(7.45 pm).Actually the water is not good for bath because it is
mixed with sand as well as some dirty things. Anyway after a long time I took bath in sea.
If there were more trees in chennai , it would have really helpful to escape from these hot season. Instead of trees, only building are here. It will only help to increase the temperature.The thing I understood , I have AC in my office, but the cooling I got from the sea shore had some more safty or calmness than I am getting from office.

MLM in all forms is illegal: experts
Before going to join any MLM ( multi level marketing ) you should read and understand these words :
Speaking about the 'pyramid modeled' businesses, Ms. Shobha lyre, the deputy director of Citizen Consumer & Civic Action Group(CAG) says,"When the perpetrator and the victim of the crime are one and the same, it's matter of greed overtaking good sense. Unless the business is registered with a proper license, those involved will not come under the purview of the Consumer Protection Act".
Mr. Chandrashekar, special public prosecutor for the CBI in the high court says that MLM companies are governed by the 'Prize chits and Money Circulation schemes ( Banning) Act'. He explains, " According to judgement passed in 2005, the so-called MLM squarely falls under the defintion of 'money circulation schemes' under the aforementioned act."
He adds, " In fact, enrollment of new members to the MLM scheme with a promise of an incentive is illegal. Under Section 7 of the act, any meeting held to canvas people or influence them to join
an MLM chain can actually be stopped by the law of enforcement authorities."
89 % of the people in pyramid model business is not getting any profit .

A confession of a Btech student... the things I forgot to follow
Following some superheros..... Those are coming in car to college or showing that they have some money or having 3 or 4 girl friends to talk...haha. Don't follow them. They are only showing their father's money or what they got before coming to college. Believe that you are the superhero. Show your hard work and abilities in studies and helping others. You can show things that you learned after coming to college. For that you must try to clear your weaknesses..... struggle for that.
Wasting time . ... In my college life, I stayed in hostel. In that days , I didn't get interest to study, because no portions of subject were moving. ... Nothing to study. The subject that taking in classes were not interesting. But one thing I can tell, if you try to study subject daily , you can create interest in those subjects easily and you can follow teacher's classes also. But Btech study culture is, only studying in exam holidays. I will tell, you can pass exams with that study, but it will not give satisfaction in study. Don't follow that culture , follow the study culture you got from your schooling. My mother is a teacher, so I know how strictly I followed sch ool time table and my own time table , including weekly revision of subjects.( i really confessing. ) . I forgot to tell how I wasted my time in Btech life. Actually i didn't get my own private time. Always some friends wil be there.( these are not their problem only , I also included in disturbing others ) .. playing cards , going for movies, talking about waste things...... etc. These things are needed, I know . But no limitations was there in my Btech life. “ Better you take single room or come from home to college . You should get your own 5 hours time daily“ this is my first advice to Btech students.
Make use of everything in your college... attend your teacher's class.. I least go and attend the classes. If you are following the daily portions then that classes will be helpful. Attend seminars , technical talks of every subject ,including other department. “Don't think I am a electronics student so why should I attend a computer science or mechanical subject talk”. Attend... attend. No need to understand everything . Make use of your library. Read books.... Don't read for exam. Study to get some extra knowledge. This was the No:1 mistake I did in my Btech. I didn't take even a single book from my main library.... I am really regretting because of that. But I usually go and take magazines from my department library . There are really good books and magazines that you can not subscribe or buy. My favorites are 'linux for you', 'PC Quest', 'electronics for you'. Go and participate every technical programs in every college.
The things that you must follow other than you followed in school are you must make a habit of browsing Internet 1 hour daily . Relate the subject you studied and the information you got from Internet . Try to acquire knowledge,technology,computer programming language from Internet. This is not for CS ,ECE but for every Btech student, Every day you should try for some new thing from Internet. At the same time you should not go back in your college subjects.
Every week or month you should try a project with the information you get from college, internet, magazines, books. In electronics there are lot off magazines and projects avaliable . Try to do those things monthly as group( with your friends) or individual.
Try to read English news papers daily and discuss daily news. That will improve your English as well as communication skill.(second mistake I did)

IIT Madras .... My dream place
Thank you God. ... Last Sunday , I got a chance to visit IIT Madras. In my plus two class time,IIT Madras was a favorite subject in my dream. (now also).... But I didn't get. ... In chennai IIT Madras is standing as a separate place when we compare with other places in chennai. The campus climate is that much good for studying. You will not feel you are entering into a college , but it is like a forest... full of trees and greenish. That much silence is needed for a student who comes to IIT. ... amazing. But you can see cricket ground and other out door game's ground. Actually I didn't get time to see full IIT-M. Next amazing thing I had seen in IIT-M , is a hundreds of cycles parked in front of the library. Students are utilizing maximum of IIT library. I had seen ,every body is going with some thought in their mind .. It was not a normal walk. they are going like they have to do some work.... Entirely different from my college . Hostels are named as Indian river's name. ...... And I found one “CENTRAL JAIL “ board.... I dont know what is that ..I think , it may be the main hostel....ha.ha. We ( me and hostel mate ) had a coffee from the restaurant inside IIT-M.
... It was a good Sunday for me and my friend.

linux jokes search results
2 . This is Linux land. In silent nights you can hear the Windows machines rebooting.
3 . Three male programmers were in the bathroom standing at the urinals.The first programmer finishes, walks over to the sink to wash his hands.He then proceeds to dry his hands very carefully. He uses paper towel after paper towel and ensures that every single spot of water on his hands is dried.Turning to the other two, he says, “At Microsoft, we are trained to be extremely thorough.”The second programmer finishes his task at the urinal and he proceeds to wash his hands. He uses a single paper towel and makes sure that he dries his hands using every available portion of the paper towel.He turns and says, “At Intel not only are we trained to be extremely thorough but we are also trained to be extremely efficient.”The third programmer finished and walks straight for the door, shouting over his shoulder, “At Sun, we don`t piss on our hands.”
4 . The box said “Requires Windows 95 or better.” I can’t understand why it won’t work on my Linux computer.
5 . Linux, DOS, Windows NT — The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
6 . Three people had carpool: a mechanical engineer, a electrical engineer and a Microsoft programmer. But the car suddenly broke down. Mechanical engineer said: "Hey! It has to be the fuel injection. Lemme fix it." The electrical engineer didn't agree: "It's magneto probably. I'll fix it." Microsoft programmer shoke his head and said: "Hey guys, I have a simpler idea: Let's just close all the windows, get out of the car, then get back into it, and it should run!"
7. There was a pilot flying a small single engine charter plane, with a couple of very important executives on board. He was coming into Seattle airport through thick fog with less than 10m visibility when his instruments went out. So he began circling around looking for landmark. After an hour or so, he starts running pretty low on fuel and the passengers are getting very nervous. Finally, a small opening in the fog appears and he sees a tall building with one guy working alone on the fifth floor. The pilot banks the plane around, rolls down the window and shouts to the guy "Hey! Where am I?" To this, the solitary office worker replies "You're in a plane." The pilot rolls up the window, executes a 180 degree turn and proceeds to execute a perfect blind landing on the runway of the airport 5 miles away. Just as the plane stops, so does the engine as the fuel has run out. The passengers are amazed and one asks how he did it. "Simple" replies the pilot, "I asked the guy in that building a simple question. The answer he gave me was 100 percent correct but absolutely useless, therefore that must be Microsoft's support office and from there the airport is just a while away."

SPAM TURNS 30-YR-OLD
Spam, the scourge of the Internet, is celebrating its 30th birthday. According to tech historians, the first spam message was sent by a marketing executive of a computer firm on May 1978 to users of Arpanet, an earlier form of the Internet. The spam was relatively innocent and welcomed the users to the showroom to see the firm’s new range of computers. Though spam is over 30 years old, it was given its name only 15 years ago by Joel Furr, an administrator of Usenet, to refer to unsolicited bulk messages. At present, spam is pervasive danger for Net users. It is believed that about 90 percent of all emails are spam.

Start PHP and Mysql in Fedora Core 3
Actually I studied how to open mysql in fedora linux in my last vacation time. But I haven't written it anywhere . That's why I had to go for searching it again.
If we installed every mysql package in Fedora Core 3, we would get one 'mysqld'. It starts mysql server demon.
For getting mysql prompt , execute /etc/init.d/mysqld start in shell prompt.
[root@localhost ~]# /etc/init.d/mysqld start
Starting MySQL: [ OK ].....
Execute mysql in shell prompt.
[root@localhost ~]# mysql
mysql > SHOW databases;
mysql > USE mysql;
mysql > SHOW tables;
PHP :-
We can embed php code inside HTML. I copied my php code in /var/www/html and started httpd - Apache Hypertext Transfer Protocol Server . Application --> System Settings --> Server Settings --> Services , tick httpd and click Start.
example 1:
< ?
phpinfo();
? >
save this code in /var/www/html as test.php
run http://localhost/test.php in mozilla. Then we will get the php installation details.
You can make changes in /etc/php.ini.

This is to ME
Not have that much confidence : - That means , the money that I made is going away from me with out any benefit. So I am not interested ...
What will think others who are all seeing that?? :- some kind of complex may be due to my status, dress, family prestige etc........
Fake beggars :- ( is now very common ) : Beggars are not now real or they are compelling to beg by some others ( mafia) .
It become a usual thing :- Every day I have to see the same beggars on my way to office.
But usually I try to give something to them. If I think about how much fortunes and happiness God has given to me , I can not avoid them.

Encripted Computer data can now be stolen
When chips are chilled using an inexpensive can of air, the data were frozen in the place, permitting the researchers easily read the strings of ones and zeroes, out of the chip memory.
"Cool the chips in liquid nitrogen(-196C) and they held their state for hours at least without any power " Edward Felten a Princeton Computer Scientist, wrote in his web posting "
